The Nature – Therapist of its Own

The primordial reason for the environmental crisis is the loss of Emotional Attachment of Man towards Nature.

In the never-ending cycle of atrocities on nature and resource exploitation, from decades, by the growing human population, the Wounds of Nature are getting deeper and deeper. Consistent elevation in the Global Warming to date, despite discussing its remedies in global platforms from years showcases how much the Human World cares about Mother Nature.

What happens when we let the things to be ‘as it is’?

Blessing in Disguise

Although the COVID-19 pandemic will run down as one of the worst phases in human history, yet the year 2020 will also be remembered as a boon for the nature. Global lockdowns have restricted human interferences into natural spaces and processes.

Silent shores, empty streets, quiet factories, and clear skies are now ruled by animals and birds which were captivated into discrete spaces for decades and centuries.

In the absence of Man, they are now reclaiming the World!!

The Jubilant Wild

Drastic reduction in water traffic and pollution allowed the marine life to enjoy the space as dolphins and turtles made a conspicuous resurgence in the territories they haven’t visited for decades.

The calm shores of Marine drive, Mumbai, witnessed the joyful school of dolphins, while 70,000 Olive ridley sea turtles, vulnerable as per IUCN red list, nestled into the coast of Khallikote, Odisha. Deserted beaches in the Pernambuco, Brazil also hosted critically endangered Hockspill turtles, which are prone to habitat loss and poaching for their colourful shells.

Fall in demand for seafood due to restaurant closing will also follow areas of the ocean to recover from extensive fishing. We are hoping that this unintended closed season between February to June and July will accelerate the recovery of fish stocks and allows us to reach conservation objective faster”- Duarte (marine expert)

The leopards roaming at Chandigarh, the sheer number of Flamingo that visited Navi Mumbai, and the dancing peacock across states of India crafted smiles all over.

Be it the Herd of Kashmiri goats in the North wales, or the Jackles enjoying the grasses in Orican park, Israel, the Rhinoceros in the streets of Nepal, or the Kangaroos hopping at Adelaide, as well as the waddle of Penguins crossing lanes in the Cape Town and many more exhibited how much the humans' activities have restricted the freedom of the wild.

Shylajesha Raja, an environmentalist, rightly quoted –It is lockdown for people, but freedom for birds and animals

A Soothing Aura

According to the Bloomberg Report, 2020 has witnessed the biggest decline in annual emission due to a significant drop in global energy demand.

Across India, pollution dropped by 20 to 60%. Blissful blue skies enable the inhabitant of Jalandhar to witness the beauty of the Dhauladhar range of Himalaya, obscured for more than 30 years by pollution. Residences of New Delhi also breathe fresher air after years, as AQI drops to 114 after its record rise to 1000 before lockdown.

While white swans put quite a show in cleaner canals of Venice, the residence of Big cities like Bangkok, South Polo, London, New York, Bogota, Wuhan also rejoices the pollution drop.

The Joy to Thrive Together always Wins Over the Conflict for Supremacy.

The instances are proof that humans and critters can enjoy the gifts of nature together, only when humans respect the space and freedom for the wilds. The brief period of global lockdown has provided us the necessary stability to rethink ways to dwell with nature in harmony.

         Nature is healing itself !!

Let’s join hands to revive all the Essence of Mother Nature.

  1. If we think we are big, we become small
If we know we are nothing, we become unlimited. That's the beaty of being a human being.
